My sister just sent me a little bucket of our grandma and great grandma’s family photos. They are really beautiful and are all (except for the last one, which was probably taken in Belarus, Russia) taken in the prairies in Saskatchewan, Canada. The second to last one is of my Papa, when he was very young.
I felt like a ghost looking at these because I had never met either of these women, and yet, parts of my face seem to show up on theirs, and their spirit peers through the paper, as if they are still there. In that place. Next to the tree. On the balcony, On a rock’s ledge.
